About Pradip J. Morbia M.D.

Dr. Morbia and his group believe in seeing patients personally. As specialists, the physicians provide care in the field of cardiovascular medicine, and feel each patient deserves to be seen and evaluated by the cardiologist himself, not a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

Dr. Morbia’s Philosophy

Dr. Morbia is the senior-most interventional cardiologist living and practicing in the Mid- and South Jefferson County area. Gulf Coast Cardiology Group, P.L.L.C., has already served more than 100,000 patients in the Mid- and South Jefferson County area. Dr. Morbia is triple Board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Internal Medicine, and is a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Since 1989, Dr. Morbia and his group of 4 Board-certified cardiologists have provided prompt, professional service and personal care to all of their patients. Dr. Morbia’s philosophy is “Hearts cannot wait.” He believes all patients should be seen as soon as possible, and he does everything in his power to see patients the same day they call for an appointment. In addition, he is available to patients and other physicians at all hours by telephone or through the hospitals. His goal is to be accessible for any questions patients may have, so they are comfortable in the knowledge their cardiovascular needs are met.

From California to Texas

Dr. Morbia moved to the Port Arthur area from the Los Angeles area, where he had a successful cardiology practice. The traffic in the Los Angeles area did not allow him to reach his patients in a timely manner in an emergency, so he decided to move to the smaller city of Port Arthur in order to provide his patients with the best care available, including emergency care. Prior to being in Los Angeles, he was trained in cardiovascular medicine in the Chicago area, at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. He trained there for seven years in different areas of medicine, including rotating internship in various fields of medicine and surgery. He completed three years of internal medicine residency and three years of the cardiovascular medicine fellowship training program.

The Greatest Wealth Is Health

The two most important factors related to health are diet and exercise. For exercise, one can look for activities that he or she enjoys. For instance, one may work with a personal trainer to help accomplish health-related goals or join a group of friends to exercise. Having fun while exercising is just as important as the exercise itself. If you love what you do and who you do it with, you will never work a day in your life. This applies to exercise as well; have fun while working out and one will never grow tired of it.

The other factor, diet, is just as important if not more. One should not think of a diet as a short-term change; it should be a change in lifestyle, and the results will last a life-time. The key is moderation; what one eats is important, but perhaps more important still is the amount one eats.
